MK5 Golf Temperature Sensor Readings

Had a look at my Dad's AC in his Bluemotion Golf today, as it's not as cold as it should be.

Used VCDS, went in to Message blocks for Auto HVAC, 4, 5 and 6 (Might be 5, 6, 7. I forget now) and it's saying that the internal temperature is saying 35c (solid, did not move) and the external is 29/30.

I know it's a hot day today but I don't think this is right.

We had the doors shut, Engine running, AC on, fan on max, temperature on cold and the digits changed.
I assume the temperature sensor is reading wrong and that's whats stopping the air con from working correctly?

Anyone got any ideas?

Any faults store on the HVAC module?
Even if those values aren't bang on they aren't implausible such that the AC compressor won't switch on and give you cooling.
You really need a set of gauges hooked up to see what the pressures are doing.

Hmm...Well at this stage I'd be wanting to confirm refrigerant fill level before looking into sensor accuracy.
As a basic test - under bonnet, start car and switch on AC (full cold + full blower + cabin recirculation + face vents only), wait a couple of mins and feel the low pressure and high pressure AC pipes -> low pressure (the bigger one) should be cold to the touch, high pressure should be hot.
If you can't feel a serious deferential, I'd proceed as above.
