Just bought an A3 - few issues

Audi A3 2.0 Tdi Sport
hello there,
I've recently just purchased an A3 2.0 TDI Sport 2004 with 111k on the clock.
I've have a few questions/ issues that you might be able to help with.
Is this car on a timing chain or belt? I've heard it could be both.
The self checker button that scrolls through various warnings when you just have the ignition on...are these showing actual faults as some are in red (like the brakes)...as they don't show as actual fault lights on the dash. Is it supposed to say 'OK' after the self check as mine doesn't. Might be down to the boot issue below.

Boot light says on even though it's shut, I've heard this is down to water ingress?

Radio only picks up AM frequencies and barely any FM, is this a common problem?

And finally...
Will disconnecting the battery remove any remaps on the ECU or will these be ok?
Also will this cause it to run a bit rich on petrol (lowering my mpg) until it 're-learns'?

thanks in advance

Hi, I had a look on the FAQ thread in A3 and typed in some key words but nothing came up. I was hoping a helpful member could help me out on this thread.

The boot light is common on these the rear window screen wiper leaks onto the micro switch if you remove the boot cover you will see 2 wires that go to the lock if you diconnect them and clean up the 2 prongs spray abit of contact clean and put them back on it should be fine I've done it with mine and it cured it

Timing belt. Regardless of the service interval I have never left a belt longer than 60,000 miles or 5 years, whichever comes first. Your car should be due it's second timing belt kit and water pump soon according to my schedule.

No disconnecting the battery won't remove the ECU map and it won't cause the car to run rich or lean. What makes you think it has been remapped?

I don't know if it has but maybe the previous owners might have re-mapped and just wondering really

Fair enough...if it's your first one then you wouldn't be able to tell but anyone that's driven a few different TDis will easily be able to tell you if it has by driving it :)

Ah just remembered one last thing.... I noticed too was the temp guage on the dash flicks on and off from 90 degrees to 0 on a drive so might be a sensor error. Do you know where the sensor location is in the engine bay. Is it the one going into the coolant filler tank?
