Iraqi Insurgents getting it with a .50 cal

No idea what country it was, it said on the video Iraq. who knows!

I don't think a decent sniper would give away his position by blasting rabbits, also a .50 cal round would probably vapourise a bunny, have you seen what they can do? its crazy!

I'm Luvving yer Avatar "Defrost" ...First class, man of quality..;) :o.k: :applaus:

They're people alright, you can see a head flying off one of them. Remember the velocity of those rifles! and the weight of the round! Mental! The last one you can see what happends when a bullet travels down the length of a man! notice the white liquid flying everywhere.

Those Barrat rifles have a range of 1 mile+, hence why they don't need to worry about being shot by a half mile max soviet 7.62 rifle their enemy are using.

I think Charles Babbage first posted that video back in the day using his adding machine...

:nyah:

Impressive shoting all the same.

Cant see the screen.... anyone?

I dont get this watching people getting killed thing who ever they are

The power of a .50cal is awesome. I've seen people lose limbs when the bullet was actually 1-2 inches away... simply awesome...

They are terrorists, who'd slit your throat on tv without a second thought.

Forever? so basically it would go right around the world and actually hit you in the back of the head? dream on.

Blackhawkdown, is that a factual book or actually a novel...

The original 50 cal was designed to take out lightly armed tanks and low flying/low speed aircraft. The rounds themselves are slightly smaller than a Magners bottle (I use this term as Im sure most people on the forum are familiar with this dimension).

If you watch CNN, you will see that most american Humvees are equipped with this weapon primarily because the rounds are that powerful that troops that lack the accuracy skill or training can still injure or kill the enemy in urban locations. (unlike the British army, the majority of US forces are made of trained reservists)

So yeah, if you design a sniper rifle around this type of ammunition, it would go for on and on and on...

ACTUALLY... most humvees used as convoy security are equipped with multiple weapons... .50 cal... M249 SAW... each crew member has M16/M4... we have the .50 cal for multiple reasons... sure it's easy to hit **** with, but you aren't going to be able to shoot terrorists effectively through a stone wall with an M16 or M249... or if you need to stop a dump truck... it's much easier with a .50 cal... not just cuz the troops are "improperly trained" as a matter of fact.... active duty trains consistently when they aren't deployed... reservists/national guard on average do 6 months of training before being deployed to iraq/afghanistan... THEN... they do 2-4 weeks of training in country before actively engaging in their primary duties for their deployment...

I apologise if I appeared to be slating the USA/US military, what I typed was what Ive found to be the case during my time in eyerack! I met many different Americans while over there (Contractors, Dyncorp, KBR, Marines, Army etc) and most were polite, very professional and hard working but there were a lot of reservists (with the rank of spc) that were doing convoys and close protection where there really should of been better trained people.

You said you met a lot of people with the rank of SPC... awesome that you shot the **** with them... However, I've NEVER seen a specialist in charge of a convoy, or even a single truck for that matter. That's why there are the ranks of Sergeant, Staff Sergeant and above... If you're basing your opinion off the actions of specialists... I personally wish you wouldn't, there is a lot more training and professionalism given to those who make it to the Corps of Non-commissioned officers. That's where all the responsibility and decision-making happens.
