Same here, rates have moved lower in last 3 weeks , must be as more get registered I assume. Mine has dropped by 25% I’m in south London.I am truly mystified. I have just refreshed my insurance quotes from 3 weeks ago using all of the same details (these were stored on Moneysupermarket) and the quotes have come out about 30% cheaper. wtf? The cost is now only £150 more than I paid 2 weeks ago on a 2L derv A3 worth about £12k.
Anyway, handy for me as I will be able to place to policy in a week or two.
Its all about the risk. Guess there are more RS3s than TTRS on the road. Plus Tommy the thief is probably more likely nick an RS3 hatchback than a hairdressers car (as nice as it is)Just checking out insurance, Current RS3 model £550 Current TT RS model £240 - WTF?
wtf, do you live on an island? I pay more than that for a 14 year old peugeot 307 xsi - thats a 49 year old with wife on the policy and 28 years protected NCD, no accidents or pointsThat was with Aviva, Directline just quoted £155 for the TT RS and that's for the 400BHP - they don't have the current RS3 model on show but the old model was coming out at £400
my RS3 was coming out at £750 with DL, got them down to £675..total jokeThat was with Aviva, Directline just quoted £155 for the TT RS and that's for the 400BHP - they don't have the current RS3 model on show but the old model was coming out at £400
Similar to my quote at £687 - 3 weeks ago though, all of the quotes were above £1k. I am 48, no points (lets see how long that lasts), full no claims although a stolen recovered claim was made 3 years ago.my RS3 was coming out at £750 with DL, got them down to £675..total joke
Ooooft, quite happy with my 550 then seeing the above! I wouldn’t have contemplated the RS if the insurance was over 750. That’s just a ludicrous amount to pay for what’s a quick A3
I did wonder how badly you were going to get shafted. When do you hit 25? Things do start to get better then.
Only 5 years to go, haha! 21 in May.
I'd happily pay that to be 20 again , sod the car

I think the ideal would be to be 20 again but with what you know at 40 together with the resulting not giving a f*ck.Nah being 20 now must be hard work!
You have done well my man - at 20 I was driving a 1.8 Astra and paying about £1.2k in insurance. At 25 I did step it up to the Astra 16v GTE which was mental in the day (0-60 in 6secs with the LED dash - a forerunner to the virtual cockpit we have today which is roughly 1,000,000% better) - £2.5k insurance premium. This was all before the days of the personal injury payouts etc you have today.
20 years old and already have a fl rs3 fair play to you your chosen profession is paying off I see
Touché touché also in the electrical industry. 11years in the commercial and industrial sector, now the last 7 years sub contracting to a diesel generator company installing these into sites all around London and beyond for permanent back up power solutions for football stadiums to corporate data centres. Also go back to sub contracting to another electrical firm doing light fitout works occasionally of a weekend, could be worse I suppose.Electrical Engineering, it’s the place to be...

Mine was opposite, just refreshed mine and they had nearly doubled for no reason. 400 up to 750 for lots of them.I’ve gone the opposite way... my quotes have gone through the roof! £300+ more than a few weeks ago!

Lol my mate was an electrical engineer and hated it so quit and joined the police ha. He was in the office though and not on the tools.
Didn’t realise you were so young! Good effort getting the RS at that age. I’m 32 and my dad thinks the RS3 is too fast for me now let alone when I was 20. Was driving a polo at that age!!
I'm paying £287 with protected 27 years ncd. (sorry, should I leave now?)
Mid 40s, I walk to work, car is garaged, edge of a small rural town, etc.
Thank you! This is my 5th car, all changed out of choice before anybody makes a comment. List of my cars and insurance costs.

Ford Fiesta Zetec S EcoBoost ‘63 plate - £2,400 insurance - Owned for 10 months at 17 to 18.
Audi A3 Sportback 1.4TFSI S Line ‘63 Plate - £1,400 insurance for year 1, £600 for year 2 - Owned for 15 months 18 to 19.
Audi S3 Sportback FL - £1,700 insurance - Owned for 12 months 19 to 20.
Audi RS3 Sportback FL - £2,700 insurance - my ‘forever’ car as the controlling mrs’ says.
Note, the S3 insurance a couple of months before I changed it went up to £4,500... yes, that’s right. Thank you thieving t*ats
Crazy really. I used to work in insurance, so boring, thats why i left after 3 months. I still dont see why it should be THAT much more for younger drivers. Surely experience should count more than age. I can understand it being a little more the perception is, right or wrong, that Audinutta will drive faster than me more regularly. Maybe not, who knows.
Impressive that at 20-21 you have an rs3. When i was 21 i have a ford escort 1.6GL (what a beast!), ditched it a year later for a Mk2 Golf GTI which was mildly modded but cost £800 a year to insure initially, then during the hot hatch theft epidemic (far worse then than now) it went up to £2400 temporarily after a moron drove into it, then back down to £1200 once the morons insurance settled up
Until now, the most fun car i had was a peugeot 205 1.9GTI, modded (Bilstein susp/lower torsion, struts, K&N, magnex full ss system etc 170bhp). Pretty quick for the day and timed using proper kit at 0-60 of 5.72, not much torque though so had to be driven hard. Annhilated better cars like a stock audi tt 225bhp. On a drag strip of course
