Warning came on the dash on the way home, so I took the headlight out to find that the bulb had exploded into pieces!

So shopping for a Philips XenStart D3S bulb tomorrow :(

TBH if the bulb glass had broken, I find its usually the harsh roads that make this happen, had this myself twice iirc.

    £171.44 from Audi dealer !!!

£86.81 for an Osram or Lucas from local motor factors....... ideally I would like a Philips to match the other side, but can't wait for one off Ebay so Osram it is.

Fitted the Osram bulb in less than 10 minutes. Just over £100 inc VAT for a bulb, still reeling....

Ebay has plenty of bulbs for sale, I got a pair of D3S from hids direct, for around 35 quid and they are perfect, no issues :)

Trouble is the nights are drawing in and I needed a bulb yesterday.

I bought a HID kit off Ebay for my bike, it was like some kind of light scatter weapon, no pattern at all to the beam. Then I bought a kit from HIDs direct and it was OK.

Same thing happened when I bought a pair of intense white halogen bulbs for my fogs off Ebay, **** beam pattern.

Branded stuff from motor factors performs like OEM.

on my 13 plate a4 sline I had one go within warranty. Got it replaced by Audi who were stunned it went then 2 months the other one went. At £100+ a piece with the technology of HID they should last as long as 10 years.

To stay on topic with Bulbs I usually find Osram are the better quality, had osram when i had my golf and then the abarth. Bulbs you tend to get what you pay for.

I shall dig the old bulb out the bin and ask the dealer if they can sort out a replacement under warranty.
