HID bulb gone after 2.5 years :(

Warning came on the dash on the way home, so I took the headlight out to find that the bulb had exploded into pieces!

So shopping for a Philips XenStart D3S bulb tomorrow

i had a bulb out warning on one of my mine then after I turned the engine off and back on it was working again.
think it may be on the way out.
let me know where you get yours from please

TBH if the bulb glass had broken, I find its usually the harsh roads that make this happen, had this myself twice iirc.

£86.81 for an Osram or Lucas from local motor factors....... ideally I would like a Philips to match the other side, but can't wait for one off Ebay so Osram it is.

Don't buy from ebay as allot are fakes, hidsdirect sell genuine, but do check with Trups user on here as he sells all bulbs afaik & site sponsor.

Ebay has plenty of bulbs for sale, I got a pair of D3S from hids direct, for around 35 quid and they are perfect, no issues

Trouble is the nights are drawing in and I needed a bulb yesterday.

I bought a HID kit off Ebay for my bike, it was like some kind of light scatter weapon, no pattern at all to the beam. Then I bought a kit from HIDs direct and it was OK.

Same thing happened when I bought a pair of intense white halogen bulbs for my fogs off Ebay, crap beam pattern.

Branded stuff from motor factors performs like OEM.

on my 13 plate a4 sline I had one go within warranty. Got it replaced by Audi who were stunned it went then 2 months the other one went. At £100+ a piece with the technology of HID they should last as long as 10 years.

To stay on topic with Bulbs I usually find Osram are the better quality, had osram when i had my golf and then the abarth. Bulbs you tend to get what you pay for.
