Looks like the rubber retainer 'cable' for my fuel filler cap is starting to perish and will probably go soon. Did anyone else replace one of these before?

They do look like they will go, but mines been like this for ages now & still hasn't broken, unless yours has already split on the hinged part.

Ah OK thanks. Maybe I'm being a little preemptive. Mine is kind of twisted and perished about half way down the strap, but still holding. Look like an entirely new cap to fix it, so I can hold on for a while. :)

Unless the cap itself is damaged & it doesn't pop onto the bottle top properly, then don't bother as it doesn't come of until you remove.

Yeah, the cap itself is still 100% so be crazy to replace it just now.

Mines the same. £30+ for a new cap or learn to live with it until it snaps.

Mine snapped. Never bothered to replace it as it just dangles against the paint work anyway. Why they didn't have a place to point it like the new S3's is beyond me.

ermmm they do have a point they sit on top of the open filler flap ;)

Yeah, mine sits on top of the flap door edge mostly, although I've worried about it in the past! :)
