Facelift Ferodo DS Pad swap

Decided to do something about the constant squeal......

Seeing as the dedicated Ferodo DS front pads aren’t finished yet, Trevor sent me some FDS1664.

This time he sent shims also....but they cannot be used as they make the thickness too much to fit in the opening.

No mither.....as last time I fitted them with out shims (just a coating of Würth anti-squeal spray).
Spray on, leave 10 mins and it sets like a rubber coating.

They are a nice fit in the Caliper compared to OEM pads.

All back together.

Result......better bite and more importantly zero noise.

Trevor tells me rears are imminent so I’ll be swapping those too.

And a couple of pictures showing the pin removal for those that have asked.

You can tap the pins lightly with a flat punch or as in my picture an old Torx driver that I don’t use anymore.

Push down on the spring

Then the pin can be withdrawn.

I've changed pads on my PFL and changing pads on these calipers are just so easy (even when you do have to splice the wear sensor cable when going aftermarket) but when pads have the compatible sensor cables, then going to Audi or any garage to have new front pads fitted is just simply foolish

good show Sean :icon thumright:

Yes it’s so easy......

Even splicing the cable is very easy.

Been out again today a few times and where normally the brakes were squealing (even more so in this tropical weather we are having) today it was total silence.

I must also say even at this early stage the bite from these pads is far better than oem pads.
