FBMFSW again

*bump*

Right guys its been a while but i am almost there with the bits for my retrofit the last thing i am struggling to acquire is the slipring for the steering wheel. as i have a B7 FBMFSW to go on my B6 car i am under the impression that the part i need is 4E0 953 541 B which is about £165 new. Now is this the only part number slipring that will do the job as i have seen quite a few 'A' versions going cheap but not sure what exactly the difference is. also seen a few 8E0 953 541 'C`s' and 'D`s' again are any of these compatible with the B7 wheel and its multifunctions??

Any advice welcome as i would like to try to avoid paying £165 if i can.

Surely gareth would be in big trouble doing these mods if a paying customer crashes and his airbag doesn't deploy. I'm sure the police and insurance companies would be interested to. I know you've done research Dave but i've recovered many unmodified cars from rta's and the unmodified factory fitted airbags haven't deployed. The only way you know it will work 100% is when you crash god forbid.

I've just retrofitted a TTS fbmfsw into my B6 all went well except the multi function buttons / rollers do not work. They light up dimly as soon as the ignition is switched on. Is there any way to check the buttons with a multimeter theres only 3 wires and 1 of them is ground. I tried to check them with measuring blocks in VCDS but they do not function. Here's the autoscan log from VCDS

I've read through lots of steering wheel threads / posts and noticed a few other people had the same problem but never said if or how they fixed the problem. I did not change the steering control module to 8E0953549R as my car came with cruise control factory fitted and was told this module should be ok as long as it took the coding which it has. Even people who changed the module had the same problem. Any advice greatly received.

Do the lights in your multifunction switches dim when you adjust the dash lights?

All sorted now:) had to change the steering control module even though i had factory fitted cruise:(. Just can't get the mode button on the steering wheel to do anything everything else works including the voice control. I must say she is very polite when you swear at her:)

How have you coded the SCSM and the BT module?

Thanks for that Dave i'll try it but don't understand why it should be that as i have voice control. I did the sds hack on my RNS-e which works great. Looking at that link i messed up anyway 04042 looks obvious which i missed.
