fan stays on constantly audi a3

Hi all,

I have an issue with the fan on my 2004 Audi a3 1.9tdi. The problem is the fan (smaller one of the two) started staying on constantly about a week ago and hasnt stopped since. I disconnected it (which means both fans are not connected) so that it would not run my battery down and Im very uneasy about this setup.

I have checked VAG codes and there are none. Does anyone have any idea where the problem lies?? Will I need to replace the whole unit or is there a relay or something that can be replaced?

common for a diode in the aircon fan to break down, sadly im having to do the same and its a case of replacing the fan unit

As above. It is a common problem across the VAG range, not just Audi.
