Do your seats have some creases

Now that I am keeping the new car euphoria under control I have noticed a couple of things which may or may not be expected in a car a year old

I noticed that the bolsters on the seats where you sit in my car are creased. The passenger must have had a big backside

Seriously though just wondered if this is typical. I did not get it in my bmw but the leather in that was very hard compared to the audi. The audi leather is nicer than my sofa and my sofa was not cheap. In fact my sofa has similar creases

The side bolsters are fine. To be fair the rest of the car is immaculate apart from the black piano trim so the previous owner clearly looked after it

Copy photo showing seat. It looks better in the flesh as the flash makes it look worse

Totally normal. As with all leather creases are inevitable. Keep them clean. Use quality cleaner regularly and leather feed or oil if you want to go the extra mile every month or so. Keep the leather hydrated is key. It’ll stop it from going shiny.

Try hair dryer (light and quickly rather than spending too much time on one area) followed by a moist MF cloth. I tried it on a B8 A4 that I bought last year and it did get rid of some wrinkles. I must mention that I didn't try too hard as it was my first time and the car was going back to the dealership due to many issues with it.

Yes, 1600 miles in and drivers side is creasing, to be expected.

Gtechniq Leather Guard is superb - It's not a typical leather feed but in my opinion, offers a better level of protection and also retains that new matt finish - personally hate the slippy, greasy leather typical of leather feeds, but its a personal thing.

    Definitely normal.

I’m very careful getting in and out so drivers side holding up very well with minimal creasing after 19k miles, however not as easy telling passengers (mostly the wife) to mind their ***** on the bolster!!

As said, good leather cleaner and feed with leather care keeps it well and avoid any cracking of the leather later on.

Just like our faces, you just got to accept the odd wrinkle over time :welcoming:

Drivers side a few months ago, holding up well at 8 months old and around 15k miles.

I use the Chemical Guys leather cleaner. It leaves it matt and also makes the car smell like new leather again.

Sorry to go against the grain here but when it is faux leather, leather cleaners are unnecessary, all that is needed is a damp cloth.
I just use a microfibre cloth...

Are the S4 seats faux leather are they? I thought that they were actual leather!

Edit: As far as I can make out, the Nappa leather seats in the S4 are genuine leather and it makes this post perfectly relevant and therefore I definitely wouldn't be using just a damp cloth or you'll dry out the leather and make creases and cracks worse.

Since the S4 are Nappa I'd say it's a safe bet that they're real leather, especially when in other A4 trim levels they describe leatherette being used. Below is from the Sport standard seats:

'A new combination trim offering the comfort and style of leather, but without the higher cost. For maximum durability, real leather is applied in the following areas: seat centre panels on the front seats, driver's seat bolster (entrance side only) and seat centre panels on the two outer rear seats. Leatherette trim is applied on the head restraints, seat side bolsters, door trim inserts, centre armrest and middle rear seat.'

So I'd still be recommending using leather cleaner on elements of the seats to make sure they're looked after. But obviously check which bits they're saying are real leather I guess.

It does throw a curve ball at it as its hard to say which is used where. Mine is more than likely to be faux whereas the nappa, as you say could be either a combination of or leather alone.
I heard that only its the steering wheels and gearlevers that had true leather somewhere.
But what ever, it seems like many car manufacturers wrongly label their seat covers as leather when indeed they are not.

I'd have thought it depends on whether you have the normal Alcantara "leather" i.e. man made, or the Nappa i.e. made from dead cow. I believe all have the dead cow steering wheel and gear lever covering though.

Funny thing is though, my last Audi had Alcantara and it smelled like leather, the new one is Nappa and has a minimal leather smell.

Yes - your seats look just like mine do on the side bits, I think this is normal. I remember reading that Audi worked really hard on the SS seats to make sure you don't get the double buttock print that makes interiors look worn, and so far it seems to be working.

Regarding the Nappa leather: It is the real thing, but the colour is sort of 'painted 'on, so although it's leather underneath, the top surface is not. I read that for this reason you shouldn't use moisturising conditioner as this will make it go shiny more quickly. Instead, and to keep the leather as matte as possible, you should first clean and then protect (but not condition).

I use Dr. Leather wipes to clean - same as @rasA4, and then this stuff to protect:

    http://lttleathercare.com/product/auto-leather-protect/

It's recommended by a few detailingworld members. The combination of those two give a really good new car smell and definitely keeps it looking matte. (But wear gloves, that Dr Leather stuff stays on your hands for days otherwise!)

Fair enough! Mine has stayed matt with almost a year of using that Chemical Guys stuff so I can't imagine it'll cause it to go shiny any time soon. :)

If it does then I'll let people know so they don't have the same issue. Haha

My s-line nappa leather passenger seat has a similar looking crease to the OP and has very rarely been sat in so must have been like that since new so seems completely normal. For care, I've used a very dilute soap flake solution. Cleans the leather really nicely, should probably use a conditioner as well but haven't done so for any of my cars with leather seats over the past 15 years and not had any issues.

My mother in law is at an age where she finds difficulty in getting out of the car so she sits ON the outer side bolster to position her legs and feet to try and stand up. What can you do - other than weep?

I am trying not to look at how my passengers get in and out of the car as its going to drive me nuts. I also now gringe when my wife sits next to me as she inevitably will bring her handbag and it creeps closer and closer to the piano black trim

My wife’s dragged various handbags across the face of the piano black dash insert so it’s got some nasty scratches in it. I’ll polish them out at some point but she’ll only do it again...

I regularly have my 3 year old granddaughter in the back of the car and am really careful about getting the car seat in and out of the boot and the car. This morning when opening the rear door, I found 2 strange rubber D things on the floor. They looked a bit like the heals from a pair of shoes. It turns out she's not only figured out the rear armrest, but also the cupholders and how to get the rubber mats out of bottom of them!

Now I just know this will happen every time she gets in the car.....Joy

It gets worse. My 7 year old granddaughter now wants to sit in the front...…...and has figured out that if she moves the gear selector over a bit, she can do the gear changes:tearsofjoy:
