Got an A6 2001 with an AJK, and want to get as modest 333bhp, which i know can be done just with ECU tuning.

However, after looking at parts for it have notices that the pistons are 078107065AN (AJK, AZA, [230BHP] ARE, BES [250]).

The conrods are different AJK, ACK, ALG, APR, AQD, AMX, AZA 078198401C [230BHP].

Also found out that VAG superceeded the rings with a new part number: 058198151B Cancelled since 01.01.2003 > 06B198151B.

Seems like they have used same pistons but different rings! Anyone know why, as must have extra cost to manufacture.

BEL (which some say is the 'stronger engine') obviously has better rods 059198401A, but the piston is the same 07810765AN as the APB, BEL, BES, and rest. Along with the rings.

So the only differences I have found are rings ,rods and crank, so far.

Cams are:

oulet 1-3: 078109022 for all

inlet 1-2 078109021P same for BEL & AJK.
078109021B for AGA, AJG, ALF, APS, ARJ, APZ, AML
078109021 for ACK, ALG, APR, AQD, AGE, ATX, AMX

Inlet 4-6 078109021Q same for BEL & AJK.
/C for AGA, AJG, ALF, APS, ARJ, APZ, AML
078109021 for ACK, ALG, APR, AQD, AGE, ATX, AMX

outlet 4-6 078109022A for all

Crank:
BEL 059105019E superceeded 1st May 2006 to /AE
AJK 078105101AB (but how common is a crank breaking?)

Some mix up there. Don’t take everything in ETKA / ETOS literally.

ACK, ALG, APR & AQD are 2.8 30V engines. Definitely not turbo, or 230hp motors.

Apart from APB, ARE, BEL & BES which are 250's and AJK & AZA which are 230's.
Rest are NA 2.4-2.8.
Just added for reference, thought that if someone needed an exhaust cam for bank 1 or 2, then useful. And somewhat cheaper than labeled turbo parts.
If, as you say "Don’t take everything in ETKA / ETOS literally." then which reference source is advised?
