    Hi.

I love to love my A3. I Give it a clean every Sunday but a few things don't seem to change! My exhaust tips are BLACK! And my aluminium roof rails are spotty. Audi badges have grime and stuff between them also. Just wondered if anyone had any good tips on how to get them to a gleam. B&E Pictures would be appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Colin

Yeah but don't go too mental on the rings as it's only a chrome coating on top of ABS, well mine are not sure on all audis.

That exhaust has come up lovely. Is that just a Shaving foam brush you have used with the APC??

My old man said that Tinfoil on the rails will work?? The tinfoil is softer than the aluminium so it won't scratch but I don't have the Cajones to attempt it.

I'd second the Meguiars, removes all exhaust deposits without tarnishing it at all.

Here's the brush I use, it's by Valet Pro and only costs a few quid.

Tin foil you say? errr......... no friend, this has disaster written large across it. Autosol reads well for those.

Hahahaha ah! I thought the same that's why I haven't done it. Never had the ******** to attempt it. Thanks for the tips mate. And when you say APC you mean like any house hold cleaner? I searched for APC and it just came up Flash floor cleaners and other similar items?

I use a microfiber for the exhausts and a brush similar to the valet pro for the badges and rings.

I assume, that your old man doesn't like your choice of car ;)

Hahaha! He's actually really good with cars but something tells me there is an underlying jealousy issue! Went for a meal last night and after cleaning my car yesterday (had a day off work) and running a clay bar over it he thought it funny to rub his hands I'll over the condensation on the windows and body work! I was about2 seconds from putting him down ha! So maybe he was trying to sabotage my car!

    Haha

Mine was like that when I bought the car, you'll be surprised what come off with some elbow grease and metal polish. I would use a fine wire wool on that too

Autosol worked wonders on my old 8P which I don't think the previous owner had ever touched, got them as bright as the Ice Silver
Now I keep this one topped up with Autosol too and then a quick wipe is all that's needed between washes if you are that way inclined.

miltek makes a great polish for the tips and can be used on the rails. i finish off with c quartz dlux which seals with silicone i.e. glass layer and resists temp change too. now i just hose off the grim

    **Update**

Tried this Autosol today. First time it's stopped raining since I bought it, lovely British Weather. Applied it twice and put in a good bit of elbow grease with it. Doesn't seem to have changed much, I used a micro fibre cloth but would I be better using something a bit more abrasive?

    Thanks

I did the tips on my tdi the other day and I honestly don't think they had been cleaned in ten years! I used autosol and I just used a bit of old sham leather I had in the back of the shed. Came up nice clean. And got rid of about all the black marks.

Some people apply Anusol with a damp cloth, apparently this penetrates better.

Sometimes the old favourites are the best. Autosol has been around since the 60's and I still use it for the odd chrome parts. Haven't found anything better yet.
