Prob going with Gtechniq

ppf seemed crazy £800 for bumper and wings just for materials

Front end, a pillars and roof PPF'd. Rest getting ceramic coated.

I'm getting full ppf done. Was told they will ppf the car in Xpel Ultimate Plus Gloss and then they would ceramic over the ppf in Gtechniq Halo for £2850 + VAT. They said it includes the wheels ceramic coated in wheel armour aswell. Not sure what prices are like but the lads I was looking atbt specialise with ferrari and do all their cars.

Where was this quote from? it’s more reasonable than what I’ve found.

Carttitude in Manchester are advertising £3500+ VAT

I've a graphene coating from Ethos to put on. Ppf seems outrageous cost wise to prevent inevitable stone chips.

That’s crazy. My car will have a front end ppf + Titan Coatings Vulcan all over inc wheels and calipers for around £2k all in.
Vulcan has a flexible rubber like membrane when cured

Crazy crazy prices, it's much easier to just not tailgate and avoid the rocks etc

You can not tailgate all you like, but if you drive on single carriageway A roads a lot there's nothing you can do about oncoming traffic hurtling debris at your car. PPF will be worth every penny in my opinion.

Trust me PPF if applied correctly and with a coating of 9H ceramic will stop stone chips. Remember the quality products such as Xpel & Premium Shield are all self healing. I’m looking to get a cost from a top guy I use and seeing if I can get a ASN group discount, but I need to run that via Admin first.

I do agree, PPF is the best way. You're paying for something that's worth it in my opinion. Prices do seem high looking at it and I initally thought it's mad for just some covering, but after looking into it I definitely think it's worth paying the extra to cover your car.

I have spoken to these guys intensively and the guys will answer and questions you have, the reason I looked into them was that the deal with the high end cars:

"We are the only Xpel approved UK PPF installation company to be preferred supplier for Ferrari Leeds, Porsche Leeds & Lotus/Maserati Bradford, all of our installations are invisible and you get a free Gtechniq Halo ceramic coating on top of the ppf and we ceramic your wheels foc as well"

I was following behind a gritter on an A road and wasn’t being peppered by any of the grit but when a car came the opposite way it was throwing it all back towards me. (Not in a car before anyone has a heart attack)

The thing to remember is ppf should only be applied to areas liable to chipping otherwise prices go through the roof for a full car etc etc also ppf + a expensive coating on top will still not have the same lustre/gloss readings as a machine polished coated paint work this could be more noticeable on dark paints for example looking at the ppf protected front wing onwards through to the door l would advise everyone who cares enough to get the front bumper and bonnet done ...but on the flip side most installers will charge you more for a lesser amounts of panel's so having the front wings/mirrors begins to look better value

Same here, full. Seems 8Y shape and wider tyres to be thrown onto the side of the car., as seen on paint chips on wheel arch's, where the wheel has been extended out.

I'm going for pretty much everything except the roof with PPF. The outgoing Golf has not only a surprising number of stone chips for the low mileage I do, but also seems to be a car-door magnet in car parks. I also had some prat throw an egg at it as we passed each other on an A-road just outside Exeter when it was about 2 months old and the impact of the shell chipped a semi-circle of paint out so that was a respray. On top of that, I live near a popular chippy and it seems the people who come and go for that only practice contact parking. Costing me about 2.5k for the PPF, but it'll pay for itself in reduced stress by about 6 months I think!

Anyone getting a RS3 8Y fully ppf'd is either got too much money and not enough common sense .....you'll not recoup any money back from it either like l said front bumper/bonnet and MAYBE the front wings as these area's are where stonechip's stand out the rest of the car if chipped a touch up stick will suffice
Full ppf is more suited to Supercars and the likes where paint condition can affect value

I really cant see any future owners paying anything extra towards the £5k PPF 3 or 4 years down the line, but do agree that bumper and leading edges of bonnet/wings would benefit, it's NEVER going to stop a car park dent or damage caused by someone reversing into it

Saving it for the second owner.

More chance of blowing the engine up than substantial paintwork damage.

It ain’t a Lambo ***.

Anyone who is going to put spacers on their wheels might want to consider mud flaps instead of ppf for the sides and rear quarter arches.?

This is what they quoted me:
Hi Harry
Looking at £3750 plus vat.

Anyone who is going to put spacers on their wheels might want to consider mud flaps instead of ppf for the sides and rear quarter arches.?

Especially as 8V’s are suffering from rust now in the lower and top arch areas.

I’d put money on spacers / wider wheels contributing to this.

When I collected my 2019 rs3 the previous owned had mud flaps fitted. It looked absolutely horrendous.

I would rather have the odd stone chip than drive around with mud flaps on!

Lol makes me laugh.

PPF followed by Ceramic coating on the PPF

Whatever next? A coating on the ceramic coating to protect the coating

Crackers.

These are a bit subtle and cheaper than ppf
Just my opinion:shrug:

We both like to get the machine polisher out nothing beats a freshly polished paint.....l actually will only be getting the front bumper done nowt else mainly because its high gloss black the rest of the car will machined polished every so often....obviously a correction will be done firstly.....but that will only happen if l decide to keep the car....market price dependant

In 4 years of 8V ownership I only had 2 chips of any note on the bonnet.
Didn’t lose sleep over them.

l was told by 2 installers of PPF there is very little point in getting ppf ceramic coated as it's already very hydrophobic they even said there's no need for the paint to be corrected prior to PPF being applied as swirls are not noticeable through PPF one of them installers is the best and most expensive one in Scotland ie incredibledetail.co.uk

Our Golf R has two stone chips, one on the bonnet and one on the bumper, the PPF would have stopped the two chips and at £2500 per chip would have been a bargain.........Honestly
