cam chain tentioner

Does any one know if you Can you change the top two tentioners on a 3.0tdi with the gearbox out

Right hand side yes, but not sure on the left. Never read anyone who has changed that side. Are you sure both are failing?

Can you get the tentioner out with the chain in place still ???

I've not done the job, I've just know people who have had that tensioner replaced.
