My 2.8Q is due for the first cam belt change, about to hit 60k and 8 years old. The garage I normally get it serviced at (independent, but not an audi specialist) has quoted £452, including the tensioners etc, as well as the water pump.

Does that sound reasonable, bearing in mind it's the V6? Looking at some other posts some people have had this done for more like £300 but that was probably with smaller engines and/or a couple of years ago. I haven't tried the local Audi dealers yet but imagine they would be more ... will give them a call anyway just in case.

Thanks,

Nick

That's about right. I do the same for £385.

The two Audi dealers near here were charging £515 and £495 respectively. Surprised the independent place is only £40 less, will go with them anyway as they've always been reliable before.

mine has gone in to have this done, ill let you all know friday morning when i go to pay for the work ,,..

oh and that price included. belt tensioners and rollers, water pump, coolent. air filter and pollen filter, oil and filter change. and 12 month inspection

yeah, £485 with all tensioners and water pump, that was from an audi specialist on a 2.4 v6. more than i was expecting when i bought the car but hay ho:mad:

In 2003/4 I had mine done for approx £360 at Newcastle Audi. That included a new waterpump, bearings and cambelt. At that time I thought it was very expensive until I realised I was paying far far less than everyone. :)

A good price from an Audi dealer. :yellowrs4:
