I did a search but couldn't find an answer relating to the 8P/CR TDi engines.
I have a very metallic rattle on idle, that goes as soon as the engine is revved. My aux belt was flapping so I assumed it was this.
Last week the alternator clutch pulley, belt tensioner and belt was done so the deeper 'grumble' part of the noise has gone.
I'm left with a metallic 'tick' noise. I found this Wynn's product and wanted to check that my engine does have hydraulic valve lifters before I wreck it.
It is a 2009 CR170 with DSG box.
My research suggests if it was the tappets the noise would occur upon start up and go after a few second but that doesn't happen to my car. I wanted to try that Wynn's for the sake of it, but any ideas on what else it could be?
I do also get a deeper rumble sound at idle that lasts a few seconds and then goes again. Whilst the grumble is present the engine feels like it is running rough but then smoothens off again.
Any ideas?
