Do you work in a VAG garage then, looks like a VAG garage setup.

Any 'in' with the Parts Dept?

Skoda can supply VW part no's, correct?
Only if the parts is also used on skoda vehicles if it is a specific part to audi/vw/seat then i have to order that through our local TPS dealer.

Finally got round to replacing the D1S bulbs as they started to get a mind of their own

Ordered some lunex 6k ones from eBay, yes they were cheap but they were recommended from someone who ran them for a good 3 years issue free so i can live with that if i get that out of them and I honestly would recommend them so far.

Managed to do both bulbs without removing the bumper drivers one was easier of the two, with the passenger one having to have the PS reservoir moved aside and headlight bolts loosened. Bulbs look blue to look at but are actually quite white on projection, in the new year im going to get some new lenses for the lights and also dechrome (joey mod) the internal trim.

Also the car as of recent is now part of the 200k club !!

Also these Verkline goodies turned up recently so will be sending the rear subframe and control arms of to be blasted and powdercoated then i can move on to the next part of the rear end refresh and get the polybush kit and the rest of the bits ticked of the list.

Verkline rear diff bushes and aluminium subframe bushings.

Coming on nicely chap.:thumbs up:
That nearside bulb replacement is a bit of a pain i agree, did my S4 one last week and its not for a large handed person..lol
i just removed the top section of the washer bottle which allows the PS reservoir a bit more space to be pushed away from the back of the headlight.
I always find the worse part is getting the cable plug back on the bulb, a bit awkward, but still better than bumper removal etc.

I'm not sure about the matt black grille surround or rings chap, kinda makes the front end looks a bit messy, maybe a satin black would have been better or gloss even against a silver bodywork.
Anyway, just my input which is probably of no use at all.:whistle2: Personal preference really and if it works for you then that is all that matters, coming along nicely all the same.:thumbs up:

****** oil into coolant.

Mahle Cooler and genuine filter housing and seals were done 5 months/3k mile ago so if anything related to those should be covered on parts warranty if they have failed. But she struggled to fire up on sunday so im suspect the worst and its head gasket related, oh well forged internals may be around the corner sooner than expected :glee:

Well well well, hopefully this could be a quick fix i checked the car over and noticed a bulge on the cooler so set about removing it, rigged up a pressure check test and low and behold there’s a leak from oil side into the coolant side, once ive replaced this and flushed out the cooling system and topped the oil back up im going to do a compression test and also run the car up with pressure gauge on the cooling system to see if there is any increase in pressure to the cooling system if there is il set about investigating into it further if not then i shall see how she goes and flush the system again after a week of running the car.

Oil cooler replaced and all temps seem fine and no more oil mixing and cooling system has been flushed twice to try remove any oil in the cooling system.

Most of the oil made its way to the header tank so i removed that with the cap still on to keep what was in the header tank in there and flushed that first, refitted and then set about flushing it out with our cooling system flushing unit VAS 531 007 at work and got some more oil out :thumbs up:

Looking really good bud, headlight lenses will make a massive difference too. Are you going to de-tango the headlights? I was undecided on whether to do mine at the start, but now they're done it looks so much cleaner, definitely worth doing IMO.

I have to agree on the clear corners, they do make a big difference, a much cleaner and fresher look altogether.
But if you like the tango's then that's all that matters, like we say, personal choice.:icon thumright:

What did you use to reseal the lens to light assembly?
Upol tiger seal just a 3mm bead over the existing seal that was in there just for good measure lol and applied abit to the outer corners, will find out when it rains if they are fish bowls or not

Where did you get the headlight lens from?
I had to modify these screws i had lying around by cutting them down a couple of mm with a dremel as the OEM T8 screws for the lens trims were to thin to self tap on the new lens, luckily i had these screws otherwise id of been screwed literally

Did you try the lens cover polishing method before going new?
I used it on my TT headlamp covers which were horrendous, like new afterward.

They were stained on the inside as one headlight had a crack at the top and had taken moisture in so i sealed it when i purchased the car they had been polished by valeter at work but they didnt come up great plus i wanted to black them out anyway

An off-the-shelf kit Richard, it was just easier than doing it with lots of separate bits.
there are loads of products
I just grabbed this one as it was on the shelf at Halfords on offer a few years ago.

Autoglym Headlight Restoration Complete Kit

I did the TT headlamps and tail lamp twice to get them really clear and the old bus aswell and still have loads of product left.
