First off I want to take the opportunity to apologise about the lateness of this write up about my new S4
Yesterday as well as today have been absolutely crazy and I really don't know where time has gone. However, I did know it was and still is for quite a few days more, going to continue in the same theme
As you will all recall I only went into my supplying Audi Dealers to arrange collection for the 16th June. This would have slotted right into my schedule, but as with all things in life circumstances changed & I ended up taking delivery of my car (for the right incentives
) early
My Salesperson, Stuart, I must say did IMO go the extra yard. Every request I made to him was carried out without complaint. Apparently I'm not the 1st customer who he has had with shall we say 'unusual' request's lol
The good lady and I turned up at 10am. My S4 was parked in the 'no public access' section at the rear of the showroom exactly as I had seen it in the compound. Dirty! I was very pleased. When he showed us the car there were ½ a dozen A4 size 'do not clean' signs on the inside of the car! He then moved it round to the 'Delivery suite', saying I know, I know no satin sheet for the reveal. He really is getting to know me well!
I drove the car home, which was less than 2 miles away and put it straight in the garage and went straight off out again. The car still had all the transit cardboard on the interior etc so I couldn't really use it.
I got around 2 hours with the S4. This time was used to remove all the transit coverings in the interior, which was then cleaned / hoovered and some year old front mats form my old B8 A4 put in (want to save the new ones's for when I do the Detail). A few light grease marks here & there on the interior which were easily removed but otherwise everything seems ok. I also got to remove all the remaining exterior white film on the car's exterior piano black bits
Popped the bonnet to have a look as you do lol which eventually ended up with me giving the engine bay a good clean! Weird eh!
Had a closer inspection of the paintwork and all seems fine, swirl and mark free from what I can see so far. It does however have some adhesive left on from the removal of the transit film, which, when I get the time will be easy enough to remove
& that was it. I didn't even get time to wash the car
I decided to go and pick the wife up in it as I wanted a little 'play'. So after a 20 mile round trip back in the garage, no wash as no time
Didn't even get to get the S4 out of the garage on Sunday
First impressions (after 20 miles & a bit of playing in the garage)
Ohhh the 3 litre V6 noise is loverly
The needle sweep at start up is a neat touch
S-tronic is lazy mans driving if you want it to be, but if you don't, well ...
Sepang blue? What can I say! I defo made the right choice IMO. Seems to change colour in different lights. Really pleased. Go
#teamsepang lol Wasn't initially sure about the black pack, but seems to suit this car. Same with the rotors
Picture's of the alcantara /leather interior don't do it justice. The seats and door panels are way nicer in the 'flesh' so to speak. Leather door armrests finish it off nicely. Haven't had much of an opportunity to play with the Audi Drive Select / Damper Control yet, but I was a little disappointed you don't get a 'Damper Control' button, as it integrates with ADS.
Hill hold assit you always had to switch on every time you used it on my old B8 A4. The switch now has a memory function, which I find useful.
Still hate stop/start
The 7” TFT dash display is more defined that it was on my B8 A4
The14 speaker (505 watts) B&O sound system is impressive. The DSP surround feature 'works' well. My SD card from my old B8 A4 works no prob. I was testing the system with the Nicki Minaj - Anaconda song lol
I like the interior light pack. Storage pack was worth the £100. A pleasant surprise that I wasn't aware of until delivery was the all electric front seats. Another surprise is that the rear brake calipers are painted black light the fronts. It used to drive me crazy trying to stop my old B8 A4 calipers from 'furring up'.
The S4 won't be Detailed until on or after the 16th June, which will and is driving me crazy, but there's nothing I can do about it TBH. I even wondering when I'll get the time to give it a wash ...
A few pic's for you delectation
Film even left on dash
Bit of a bonus when I signed all the finance docs. My monthly payment had actually come down just over £10/month as Audi FS had lowered there APR rate. Not much, but as they say every little helps
Freebies - None (But I did get a full tank of fuel, a litre of top up oil, the AMI leads & the first 2 services worth £600-£700, for free
)
Delivery mileage - 8 miles
Tyres fitted - Continental ContiSportContact 3's which have the manufactured date of 13/15 on all 4
Full tank of fuel which was showing 440miles range on the DIS
Insurance - £208 fully comp, protected NCD, the wife & I to drive, 6000 miles per year, garaged £500 excess with Aviva which I was really pleased about as my car is an insurance group 36 car
GAP - 5 year combined vehicle replacement policy with gapinsurance123
From signing the order form to delivery - 73 days (but I did hijack a Dealer order already placed and allocated a Build week)
Build week moved from initial BW20 to BW19
Feeling like this about my new S4!
Apologies once again for the lateness of this post folks
