AUDI S3 8P 2006 - WHINING NOISE

I've noticed a slight whining noise from my S3 on acceleration, is this normal? it sounds like when your power steering fluid runs low and it causes a whining if that makes sense?

any suggestions?

Rev the engine when standstill, if it whines then it wouldn't be transmission related e.g. diffs etc.

Could be a synchro problem in gearbox if driven hard in its life

Get a friend to build up the revs when stood still and you check the alternator for any whining noises.
