Audi Connect icon missing?

After a week of waiting for my a4 to get ready. I sat with the handover specialist and tested out the car to see if it had the functionality as was stated in the spec sheet.
One thing that caught my attention was the Audi connect logo was missing below the audi smartphone interface one. He said that when i plug in a sim card the option shall appear and you can connect to the data since there are no audi connect tie up with mobile operators here in the middle east. Since not having a mini Sim i decided to give it a try when i head back home. And after trying nearly everything i still cannot get it to work and am starting to fear that the car does not have it at all? It does connect to the data when i insert the SIM and i do have the google earth overlay. In fact when i connect my phone the first time it asks if i would like to set up Audi connect now, but regardless how i establish the connection it does not show the audi connect icon.

Even though it was stated in the spec sheet, i double checked by registering on myaudi with my VIN. In the vehicle equipment section it shows the option of Audi connect,3 years linked to my vehicle. I am so confused with all this.
Worst part is i cant get hold of the handover guy.

from what i heard form my friend in dubai there is no audi connect in Dubai not sure about the rest of the middle east?

Yea, I was just told that by the handover guy. I am pretty livid with the sales guys. Given that i couldnt search for information regarding whats there in middle east online (was hardly any info around).
Curiously some a8s do have it here which is interesting. I've contacted Audi middle east to clarify on this since the dealers are pretty clueless.

Audi connect log should still be displayed with no SIM card fitted! Mines was.

Hi needmore, I just purchased a new 2017 A4 B9 and it happens the same (here in Argentina).
Do you have any news on how to fix it or manage. My main concern is that there are no way to add the speedcams to the navigation system. Of course I cannot use Google maps or any other "connect services".
Also I cannot access to the WiFi "Hotspot" connectivity options, which means that the car wifi is totally useless because it cannot connect to another hotspot, so if I enable the WiFi, I just can connect the mobile to the car via WiFi but I cannot access to the internet. And if I enable the mobile hotspot the car cannot connect to it. Totally stupid.
Any help will be appreciated.
