Audi 8v halogen to led tail lights upgrade

I have an Audi A3 8v Hatchback.. I want to upgrade tail lights halogen to LED... I have bought the lights but realised the plug are different .. on the halogen the outer light has the brake light bulb ..and the led has brake bulb on the outer and the iner ... is there anyone that can help me with the wiring or point me in the right direction for the harness adapters.. any help appreciated thanks in advance

On the outside taillight the brake and driving lights use the same wire.
On the inside the fog lights and driving lights use the same wire.

You have to remove the driving lights from the outside lights adaptation.
You have to remove the fog lights from the inside light adaptation

Next you need to run 2 wires from inside to outside.
1 Turnsignal (as the inside lights have no turnsignal on halogen)
2 Drivinglight from inside to outside

Now you have 2 reverse wires and 0 foglight wires from BCM
Wiring: remove 1 wire and connect left and right reverse light together.
The loose *ex reverse) wire we hook up to the foglights. (both)
Code 1 of the 2 reverse light as fog lights. ( ths may couse the cluster to get the reverse light error when foglights are out.)

Last : As the led might trigger a lamp out, you can try to change the lasttype.

Hi pal it’s not facelift I’m trying to fit pre facelift led lights

You have to remove the driving lights from the outside lights adaptation.
You have to remove the fog lights from the inside light adaptation

Next you need to run 2 wires from inside to outside.
1 Turnsignal (as the inside lights have no turnsignal on halogen)
2 Drivinglight from inside to outside

Now you have 2 reverse wires and 0 foglight wires from BCM
Wiring: remove 1 wire and connect left and right reverse light together.
The loose *ex reverse) wire we hook up to the foglights. (both)
Code 1 of the 2 reverse light as fog lights. ( ths may couse the cluster to get the reverse light error when foglights are out.)

Last : As the led might trigger a lamp out, you can try to change the lasttype.

Do you have wire diagram .. how many wires in total do I need to run from the outer lamp to iner plus can I tap the wire from the wire itself or do I need to connect directly to the pin

i didnt think they did halogen on fl?

anyway the rear clusters from 2012 8v will fit upto a 2019 8v and vice versa with the right pinouts and coding

Yes there is FL with halogen tails.
So there should be a way, it's just matter of wirings and coding.

I will purchase the 4 correct plug at the dealer, and i will try to do my self the cable. I find nothing on the forum about that. and i didn’t find the cable set less than 150€ (i think it’s very expensive for a cable set…) on aliexpress a lot of cable less than 50€ but only for prefacelift modele, not same connector than facelift (i think only trunk tail connector are different)
If some one can help or share something it’will be grateful !

Ok.. looking at it suggests you have Brake function added to your TailLight channels.. that is adjustable with VCDS..

You need to check your Brake light channel as well.. maybe it comes on because you have it set as Leaving/Coming Home light but it should not be on when you drive.. make sure you don't have Taillight function in Brake light channel...

I got it sorted by a vcds professor!
One by one the lights turned of by every code he made in vcds. So yes it is a coding issue when swapping led for hallogen! Thnx everybody and hope this helps anyone trying to do the same!

If you got 2013-2016 A3 with Halogen rear lights from factory and changing to 2013-2016 LED set
Then you need harness, one each side, that links inner and outer lights
Coding will make LED look like factory fit
Without coding you will have no issue but fog and brake will stay On dimmed at Night all the time.

Hi there your info is very useful.
I currently have an audi a3 sedan/ saloon model. I have the led tail lights and the harnesses to connect the outer and inner lights. My problem is as follows. On the left side i have the dynamic turn signals
On the roght side the inner tail light has the dynamic tail light however the outer tail light on the right side flashes with a red light. No oiter dynamic tail light. The inner tail lights switch on but the oiter tail lights do not switch on when the rear fog is switched on. The reverse lights do not come on when reverse gear is engaged. Is there anyone who can help me with the coding for this pls.

I had some problems with the tail light of my Audi. I noticed that it isn't working after one month after it stopped working. I have bought some new tail lights from https://www.vont.com/product/smart-strip-lights-led-strip-lights/, and I even figured out how to install them on my own. It wasn't so hard, so I decided to upgrade all light bulbs on my car to LED light bulbs. It was a good decision because my car looks much better, and most importantly, the visibility during night driving is way better.

Dont forget to put the lightmodes to led...
On oem led equiped cars you have light 16 and 17 controlling the indicators... These are used for something else on non led cars..

ive managed to get the rear FL Halogens on my Sport saloon upgraded to the FL Led. i worked with rocketwires to make a kit up. might be worth messaging them about it, im not sure if theyve started selling the kits
