Hello all.

Well I’m back from my 3.5 week trip to Texas and I thought I would share my experiences of hiring muscle cars.

First up:

Dodge Charger R/T.
5.7L V8 Hemi, 370bhp.

Nice, comfortable long distance cruiser and a lovely noise when on the throttle. Loads of room in the cabin, boot and rear seats. Bit hesitant on the power delivery, but when it gets going, it’s fanrastic. Interior build quality was dreadful. But then we are spoiled coming from an Audi. Not much of a looker but a decent saloon car.

Next up:

Chevrolet Camaro SS.
6.7L V8, 455bhp.

Yes, it’s Bumblee from Transformers!

This car was something else. Quite slow on the power delivery but when it gets going.....WOW!!! And the noise!!!
Decent build quality, non existent rear seat room and dreadful visibility. But that engine is a peach!! Normal driving I managed 33mpg and driving hard was 19mpg! Blooody good I thought. I enjoyed this car so much that I even started looking at prices for UK imported ones! This car is just gear and looks fantastic!

Last car that I hired:

Ford Mustang Convertible.
3.7L V6, 300bhp.

This car was the worst of the bunch. Cheap build quality, awful interior, and all noise and no go. Only got it as I fancied a convertible to drive back to the airport.

Cheers for sharing mate.
Not driven any of them but I'd agree with your views on the looks.
Camaro and Challenger look meaner but the Charger and Mustang look pants.
The noise must've been amazing.
Did you work your way across the country, I see there from various states?
Were they all from run of the mill rental companies?

@Audi Bairn Just stayed in Texas mate and hired from the big name rental firms. The rental cars seem to have number plates from various states.
