I'm looking for recommendations from a5 sportback owners of a way of protecting the boot and making it dog friendly for transportation of the dog. Preferably something crate like which allows storage of other items whilst the dog is in the boot.

There are hundreds of products, but I'd love to hear from a5 sportback owners who might have real world experience of them.

I ended up with buying and modifying one of those adjustable Dog guards that clip to the rear headrests and a WeatherTech Audi A5 Boot Liner + Bumper protector
I think a challenge you're going to have with the A5 Sportback is the profile of the hatch. Unlike the Audi A4 Avant or event A3 Sportback it doesn't have a lot of vertical space so it would be very cramped for medium/large dogs to partition the boot.
