if i switch on both alarm buttons in the drivers door will this prevent the alarm going off even if theres a fault somewhere?

Well ones tow protection disable & other is movement sensor disable, but if its got system issues that make it go of, it may still do so, best to fix the underlying issues for peace of mind.
