Hi, my 18month old A3 is due its first service, just had the first quote back from Epsom Audi for £395.20 including a pollen filter change. Seems a bit steep for me, anyone had one done recently or know what the going rate is for this? Audi seems to keep pretty quiet about service prices unless its 3 years old.

Thanks

Just rang up Birmingham Audi for my 1.4 TFSI first service (19 months old) and they quoted £357 without pollen filter. I remember reading in the past on here people getting the price around the £280 mark after getting price matched with written quotes from independents but they have to be within 15 miles, use genuine Audi parts etc. As someone who's never kept their car long enough to have to get it serviced that seems quite difficult to do.

I'm changing the car early next year, will it really matter to whoever trade it in to (probably a none-Audi dealer) that it was serviced by Audi or will they be fine with a trusty (using genuine parts) independent?

I can’t remember exact price but my 1st S3 service was circa £350 inc filter.

As the 1st service is inspection, oil and pollen I can’t see there being much difference. Phone around local dealers and see what they can do.

A lot of people go to independents as well.

If you only keep your car 24 months it would have been cheaper just paying for an oil change at 12 months then trading it at 24 month service time.
Everything being equal, would you choose to buy a car serviced by Audi or one serviced by an unknown entity?
It shouldn't matter but it could be something else for a dealer to beat the trade-in price down. You pays your money and takes your chance.

My a4 is on a fixed service plan over three years and it costs £9.56 a month. Over three years that makes all the services cheaper than your first one!!

I got my local Audi dealer to match a price of £140 for first inspection service at £18000 miles. They wanted £270 initially.

The prices you are being quoted are robbery.

When trading in a car I can't even remember being asked if it had been serviced at all never mind who serviced it.

They don't need to ask because of the car's electronic service record...

I'm going back almost 20 years, before electronic service records. Also moving between different manufacturers.

Just had my first service on my S3, Coulsdon Audi charged my £238 hope this helps seeing it's up the road from Epsom.

But we're in a A3 8V forum and reading minds is, unfortunately, something beyond my capacity....;-)

Making sense is clearly beyond you too!

Well my common sense tells me this is a a3 8v forum and these cars all have electronic service records which has nothing what so ever to do with any cars 20 years ago has it?

I had my first service on the S3 done at an Audi main dealership, think it was around £206 without the pollen filter (it was around 8,000 miles).
Before the 2nd service was due I got a px price off them and they were the lowest around. I then had my second service done 12 months later at an Audi specialist including pollen filter for £220 (around 15,000 miles).

When I came to px it Audi still gave me the lowest price around! I ended up selling it to a sports car specialist for £1,500 more than they had offered! I showed him the receipts for both services and his words were "We know them, it's not an problem and will not alter the price", genuine Audi parts were used and the service was done on time, that's all he was worried about. Unless you sell to an Audi main dealer, I don't think anyone can see the online service record anyway!
