2.5TDI engine blown

Hi my father in law has a blown engine in his Allroad 2.5TDI (53 plate)

what is the best place for a replacement -- and good audi breakers or just eblag

Avoid these guys like the plague, used to be known as Heathrow Engines http://www.reconditioned-engines.co.uk/index.shtml. They are being prosecuted at present but keep forming phoenix companies.
There are several 2.5TDI engines. Check your model and be sure you are buying the right one, not all are interchangeable. Depending on the mode of failure you may be better going for the rebuild. As samiam says, what happened to it? Expensive but if done by a VAG specialist you will know its been done properly and it will be guaranteed and that may be preferable to getting an engine with an unknown history. If you can find a Skoda dealer with a tech thats qualified on V6s it'll be cheaper than Audi by a mile. Check my thread in the diesel forum, in hindsight i should have spent the money on an Audi rebuild, it woul dhave been cheaper overall. Mind you selling the shell without an engine and walking away would have been cheaper still but .....
