Looking to get a remap in the new year, but on contacting a few firms there seems to be a conflict of opinion between some of them,ie, can it be remapped or does it need chipping, some say yes while others say no!car in question is 1998 a4 1.8t,aeb engine.your expert opinions are most welcome.anyone tried Reidy remaps in Yeovil somerset?:sos:

the usual off the shelf reflash jobs won't work on your car.
DBC ECU require a proper chip applied to it rather than a file uploaded through the VDS port.

there are some out there that will do the basic remap but not many of them can source the actual chips anymore.

speak to the bigger tuners JABBA, MRC etc they will either be able to help you or point you in the right direction.

few chaps on here rewiring their cars with reflashable ECUs for another option

1998 AEB Is 100% Chip. None of the DBC B5s are flashable.

Assuming you have the later type ECU then chipping will not be a problem, it's the earlier ones that present problems due to limitations within the ECU and blank chip availability

mines a 99.5 and I still struggled to find anyone with chips.

only one answer.

BIG TURBO!
