Hi guys, my service light has been flashing at me for a few months now, In the last service, I had the sparkplugs(NGK Platinum), Oil(Quantum Synta GOLD 5w40 fully synth off the top of my head), Oil Filter and Air Filter all done, but I have only done 3k miles or so over 15 months, so should I just reset the meter and carry on driving it until the next schedule or would you recommend I carry out an Oil and Filter change for the sake of it?
Had the MOT done today, and it passed comfortably with no advisory's, but the tester did say I should consider greasing some some of the things up sometime, as it will fail on rusty brake pipes/powersteering pipe/ARB links some time in the future.

Hi jojo, hope your well.. it all depends on how you drive it mate, if you constantly ragging the **** out of your car, service it frequently, i.e. 3000 miles, if you rag it every now and then, but mostly drive calmly service it every 5-7k and if your a normal user who drives like a granny every 10-12k.. i normally service mine every 6 months regardless, and i dont drive like an idiot .. mostly take it easy but have a high rev driving style even in speed limits and enjoy a quick play every now and then... you certainly cant do any harm by changing your oil.

I recently got mine serviced at Audi, but specifically only had the oil and haldex oil done. It was £200 which was cheaper than the local specialists as mine is a 'mature' vehicle and qualifies for a reduced labour rate. Its still a rip off for some thing that you could do yourself, but I wanted to keep the service history going. If your service history is worth keeping up to date you probably should get at least the oil service done. I'll be doing the filters and plugs myself.

I drive slowly on most occasions, but will give it the beans if need be, even had a single track session at Audi Driver's, so a mixture of driving, but only when the car is warmed up and cooled down accordingly. I think I'll just do an oil and filter change to be on the safeside then, just thought maybe using decent oil might have been ok for another couple of K miles, but I guess age will effect the oil's performance to a certain extent.

I do my oil and filter yearly now and thats about every 4k, never like leaving the oil in the car for over a year. I know service light comes on at 2 years if on variable
