My SE with 24,000 miles has quite a loose gear stick compared to the Leon I had, the Leon was "notchety" and they Audi seems loose, could there be a problem /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Well, you didn't really clarify my questions.

I'm going to assume you mean that the stick shifter (knob and shaft) feels as though it has a lot play side to side while the car is standing still.

It may very well be the difference between the two car makers, but I'd investigate if the car shifts smoothly through all the gears at both high and low rpm shifts. If there are any problems during that test, then I'd consider your synchros may be at fault.

By the way: Did you buy the car used? If so, did the previous owner confess to any modifications to the car?

My shifter(knob) more a little too but thats how it is, my buddy's shifter does the same(1998 2.8Q)

No mods to the car at all, its only a 125BHP 1.8i, yes it just seems to have more play than the previous car, I thought all Audi/VW/Seat used the same components etc?, I am prob wrong.

The car drives superb and changes very smoothly
