Hi guys, i'm back again as i now have the funds for the s4 and a few mods. I was wondering whether anyone would be able to help/recommend a few bits that i'm looking to upgrade straight away. Any help is appreciated.
1. Re-circ DV
2. cat back + 200 cell cats
3. Recommended oil to use? - as i've seen a few companies list 10w40 and some listing 5w30?
Also i'm going to get a BMC CDA as they seem to be the best kits for a few of my friends cars, but if anyone has a cda or any experiences with them regarding the s4 please elaborate.
Thanks in advance guys!
I'd say first step is check the car for boost leaks and normal operation (fault codes etc). Either do it yourself or get a health check from a specialist. If you have the original 710a DVs, replacement 710N DVs a good plan, but even these wear so best to test them. Otherwise you want to know all the common failure sensors are working and your common failure hoses are holding pressure (f-hose and tbb common to split).
Second on my list would be some uprated ARBs. The stock car out the box is great but rolls and a set of H&R ARBs transforms the car and are a must have for me.
A turbo back exhaust and 200 cell cats is a good plan, but only if you are going to have it custom mapped afterwards, other wise I'd leave it alone. If you like noise, just have a catback.
The BMC CDA I'd leave off. Air intake is not something I have ever read as a restriction on the S4. Many mod the airbox to emulate the extra opening in the RS4 airbox, but that's it. There are 500+ BHP cars out there with the stock paper filter.
I use either 10W40 or 5W40 fully synth oil.
If we could stop there it would be great. The trouble is you will get it mapped and then you'll probably realise you want better brakes. To get the best value big brakes you need 18's. Once you fit 18's you'll need to lower the car to make it look right. So factor those two in as well!
A short shift is a nice mod on these too.
