My amber ABS light was on this morning when i drove into work i turned the engine off and on again when i got there and it was still on, Any pointers from anyone before i go and spend more money at the garage?
Thanks all!

I'd scan it with vag.com if you can - it'll be the only way to be 100% sure whats causing the light to come on.

Sometimes the connecting wire between the brake pad and the car can become damaged and I think this can cause issues - might be worth having a check - i think it's the drivers side pad that has it.

my brother has a similiar problem on his a4 1.8t quattro. the abs light has stayed on. he got it on the diagnostics at MIJ performance in wolves which came up with no fault..any other ideas?

A3Eddie - More than likely a sensor, a Vag com scan should reveal what's wrong

S3 Rav - I'd get it scanned again, as the ABS light needs a fault to be logged for it to come on. There should be something. Only other option i'd say was faulty wiring/clocks.

just been out in mine for the second time today and the abs light went off. I set off then i heard the abs motor kicking in even though i was not breaking. I then put my foot on the brake and you could feel the abs working even though i was only doing 2mph. I then continued driving around and the light continued to stay off. When i slowed down agin i noticed the abs started to kick in again even though i was not breking hard at all.
Any thoughts????

I had the same symtoms on my car a while ago, it turnd out the be passenger side sensor, but i dont know whether other things could cause same problems so as said already, get it vagcom'd!

Thanks m8, I'm getting my engine remapped by cc soon they are doing a vag com test then so should pick up the fault then? Or do i have to get it done seperatly?

does every audi vw garage and indepedent specialists have acces to vag com?

no idea m8 although i would have thought so as i'm getting my remap done at formula 1 and they mentioned doing one for £30 they are not even a dealership just a tuning garage

I could scan it for you Eddie, depending on how close you are?

It sounds like the sensor to me. It senses the difference in speed between back and front wheels. It might be giving wrong signals and making the ABS controller think its locking up..

Worth plugging in soon though I would day, the ABS won't be working correctly if the light is on.

Yes custom code will do a check and will find it for you when you get your car remapped.:icon_thumright:
