S3 Outside Temp Sensor

Howdy folks,

Can anyone shed some light on a problem for me?

Recently, especially after washing the car, the outside air temperature reading on the DIS has decided to go from ambient to -50 DegC, then back again, whenever the mood takes it.

Has the outside air temperature got any control on the Aircon/Heater function?

I'm presuming that it is most likely a faulty sensor but i cant be sure. Has anyone had problems with this before? Wiring? DIS?

Also, its the sensor a thermistor/RTD/thermocouple?
Where is it located?

Any info is greatly accepted..

The actutal sensor sits infront of the radiator, it may be faulty or most likely has come loose....I am sure someone will be along in a mo to tell you specific things to do and look for....

I have this same problem, but it usually just reads about 8 degress out, it wasnt -5.5c the other day im sure!

it's got to be the sensor I reckon
