Fault cam position sensor.

Hi folks.

Got a problem with hot start. Will start when hot but long crank.

Scanned and showing cam position sensor.

Findings so far ...

First thing in morning starts straight away. After starting clear the code from the day before turn off and rescan. There is no code. Checked out block 51,2 and I'm getting a reading from cam position sensor. When first starting when it's cold.

Go for a long drive, switch car off and try to start again. Will start but very long crank. Rescan, cam position sensor fault. Check block 51,2 and no reading from cam sensor after getting it started again.

Tried disconnecting the sensor still long crank. Checked connector plug on the 3 pins. 5v 5v and zero.

Read a lot, could be wiring so going to check continuity from the sensor to the ecu to make sure there is no break but I'm sure it's not that as I wouldn't be getting the 5v reading?

Thoughts? Senor or wiring from my description.

Thanks for reading and any help.

Well checked over the wiring and all is good. Another guy I know has said it's most likely the sensor is breaking down when it's hot. Damn it, means I'll have to do the cambelt again just so I can get to the sensor. Annoying as I only did it a few months ago.
