Hello all, I am having issues with my 2017 A3 8v front Drl on right side. Few months ago I noticed It started to flicker without warning on dash board, but then it went out completely and the message appeard at the dashboard. But when you go to mmi screen and turn of the DRLs and then again on it works again. I knew it wasn't fixed but it worked. Recently I have removed the headlight and inspect the Drl module, leds looked like new without any burning marks, all looked great, nevertheless I have replaced the drl module with new one, and funny enough it started doing the same after a few days. Everything is the same as before replacing the module. Like its loose contact but where when how .. I really don't know what to look for loosing my mind :(

Could be an issue with the headlight housing (there are wires / connections inside) the main control module or indeed the vehicles BCM. Would suggest visiting a specialist in order to have it correctly diagnosed.

Thanks for replying, when I first got a flicker issue a have booked a car to dealership for inspection. They told me that the issue was Drl module and they wanted absurd amount of money for it. 3 dot leds for something like 500€ with labor. I changed it myself on both sides just because I can. But obviously the flicker issue isn't caused by Drl module..
Does anyone know if and where are the ground points for headlights?
Funny thing is looking at my car manual, fuses for headlights are inside, pins f36, f37. But when I looked at the board both of the positions were empty...

The DRL modules are controlled via the main control modules on the headlights, which are controlled via the vehicles BCM and light switch. Its not a straight forward setup. The DRL modules are "sided" so can only be mounted on the side of the vehicle they are designed for but they can be connected and tested "loose". Swap the headlights around and if the fault moves then you know you have a hardware related issue. If the fault does not move then you have a wiring or BCM issue.
