A6 C8 Door Handle Removal to access courtesy light

I have an exterior courtesy light (drivers) not working. I am trying to remove the handle mechanism but can't quite finish the job. All the YouTube videos suggest remove the cover in the side door, unscrew, push screw in and pop for the lock part which is fine.
Then pull the handle back and out to release the rear half. Which then allows you to pull the front half out... I can not without fear of snapping the front connector pull the front part of the handle out. Can anyone tell me if the mechanism is updated in this model or what I am doing wrong? I can add photos if needed but I'm guessing the right person who can answer won't need them. Thanks in advance.

Thank you. It suggests internal trim removal is required unlike other models
