Hi Guys,
I bought my Audi A3 2.0 Tdi from a local private dealer, when I got it the battery was not good, so they agreed to provide a new battery, the garage that fitted it explained that it had to be coded to the car, which they said they had done.
Following this I had some electrical issues saying general electrical failure and I couldn’t get the SIM to be recognised for Audi connect services, so I booked the car in to Audi Derby, and also to have the maps updated. When I went to collect the car I was told that they would not work on it to check for the electrical issues, as it did not have a genuine Audi battery and was not coded to the vehicle! If I wanted them to work on it I would have to buy a genuine Audi battery at £600 !
They had diagnosed the SIM card issue as a faulty telephone module, which they quoted me £1600 pounds to replace. So that was a non starter at that price.
When I asked if the map update had been done, they said it hadn’t been as it takes some time…
They also said the timing belt change had not been done and it should be done ASAP, the car has done 30k miles, it that the normal lifespan for a timing belt, the car is a 2014 model year. They want an arm and a leg to do it, so will take it to my local indy to get done.
As for the map update, not sure where to go with that, given the satnav is pretty useless, keeps wandering off track and getting lost, I was hoping the software recall they actually carried out would fix it, but sadly not.
