Just booked her in for first service. Usual dealership waffle ‘we will give your car a complimentary wash and vacuum’. My response was that on no account must the car be cleaned in any way. ‘Oh, would you just like a vacuum’……..’Nooooo!’

Always fills me with anxiety this. There will be signs in the car and I’ve booked a while you wait appointment to reduce the amount of time it’s in. Why oh why are dealerships so hell bent on cleaning your car?

Put A4 sheets under wipers & on dash stating this as they won't listen in most cases,

I had a while you wait service on the 8Y at Macclesfield. They actually agreed my car didn’t need washing because it looked brand new lol.
Still Told them though a sponge wasn’t to go near it……..

I told the service guy they will be paying my detailer in the region of £1000 if they go near my car with their dirty sponge.

That's the thing left hand right hand, no correlation, it's a processes issue.

Also without being funny, but allot of dealers have foreigners cleaning cars & sometimes the language barrier comes into effect.

Dealer I work with, they're all east europeans cleaning cars, nice bunch of lads, but there is an obvious barrier for sure.

When I had my 8V I went back for a warranty claim / RS specialist had to go out in the car with me. When we got back I had to wait for about 10 mins in reception whilst they sorted out some paperwork. With great pleasure they advised that they had cleaned the car! In 10 minutes! It was filthy when I got there and they pretty much destroyed the paintwork, must have wiped it over once with cold water ...

TX.

Don't you just lover it when you take your car in gleaming and it comes back with water mark streaks on the windows and that horrible thick black slime they put on the tyres, not to mention the sponge contact from a 1,000 washes :tearsofjoy:

VW and Audi both similar when returning for my car ''What part of DO NOT CLEAN MY CAR didnt you understand?

Ah yes! the black tyre sh*t they use, gets all over your hands and destroys whatever shampoo you have in your bucket

Local Audi dealer had a big hush up when it materialised that the 'foreign' car washers were also copying the cars key..................................

I went nuts at VW for ‘cleaning’ my Golf R. When quizzed they said they use a brush! I said it looks like they had used a Brillo pad! Next service, A4 sheets ‘do not wash’ on the dash as it took a full day to polish the mess they left it in.

I know it may not be easy, but I always take my cars to the dealer shiny and clean and tell them Not to wash or hoover it, and waiting while it gets serviced helps as well.

I do the opposite, take it slightly dirty so I can tell if they’ve touched it.

That being said, I’ve never ever had an issue touch wood. Just make sure they write it down on the job sheet do do not wash and make sure I’ve got it in writing via an email in case.

Survived unscathed! Put lots of notices in the car, front and back and dealer put a big red tag on the keys which apparently means not to wash. Service guy was laughing when I picked it up and said they ‘got the message’…….also complimented me on a lovely looking car. Breathing easy again now.
