So Mr hunts has decided that EV's etc should fall in line with ICE with regards to VED, i'm surprised its taken until now to be honest.
No doubt with the increased cost of charging etc and higher purchase prices for new and used EV's owning one wont be such a good option after all.
Probably pushing up new and used values of ICE-powered cars now.

Agreed. They were never going to see dwindling VED on ICE cars and not require to raise tax on EV’s.
Just confirms the sham that it was a tax on things like emissions…….. it’s just a tax generally.

Anyone that drives on a public highway is viewed as a potential cash cow, wth VED, insurance, sky-high fuel cost and now inflated car prices etc we are getting hammered and allways will do.

They want the roads only for themselves and their pals...the rich. Its all part of a master plan.

Really -the rise of EVs is blowing a big hole in the Government’s over tax take. Petrol and diesel cars currently bring in £35 billion a year through road tax (£7bn) and fuel duty (£28bn) which is around 4% of all tax revenue.

As sales of new petrol and diesel end in 2030-35, so will the revenue they provide so introducing VED on electric vehicles was always going to be a matter of when rather if.

How to fill the hole left by falling fuel duty won’t be so simple to solve
