Oil change

It seems when doing an oil and filter I’ve not got quite enough oil, might be a silly question but want to do a good job of the oil change, but can I mix brands. It’s had 4l of Castrol edge and requires maybe just over 0.5l to get to the max level for which I want to use some Halfords oil.

I wouldn't tbh just buy the 5 l version and you'll have some left for top up

Personally I wouldn't worry at all as long as it is the right viscosity with the VAG approvals. As you say, Castrol often comes in 4 ltr containers. More important to get some clean oil in the engine.

Make sure its a reputable supplier as there's allot of fake oil on the market also, personally if it's not a money issue, just buy another litre of edge.

Thanks all, ended up paying an extra £7 for another litre, hopefully it can be used in something else as I’ll have a fair bit left over. Cheers
