RS3 v Tesla 3 Performance

They are going to use Virtual LIDAR which effectively maps the cars surroundings and will do the same thing once they roll it out.
Still don't get it. If you drive up to a wall or a post it shows you on the screen just as if you had parking sensors but it tells you in inches how far away it it and it's not far out.

They removed parking senors from the bumpers and are rolling out a camera based feature that maps the cars surroundings.

It always shows you the camera view regardless

It doesn't show you a camera view it shows you what you would have if you had sensors.

I don't get what you mean? Not having actual parking sensors makes no difference in terms of what the car tells you about it's surroundings.

The Tesla is reversed into our garage every night and it has to go within a few inches of the wall - the camera is no good for this.
We don't get a readout in inches how far away we are from objects on the screen ?

Nope we don't get that - no readout at all - we just get the camera image and that is it

On the model 3 performance we test drove in early 22 it showed the camera view when reversing etc

You got me thinking now, I got mine in September and I'm sure I don't have sensors!

I'll check in a bit but I see the pic above.

From what I’ve read Tesla Vision hasn’t been fully rolled out yet.
It’s still in beta.

I saw a couple of electric 70's 911's at Salon Preve last year. They had a big speaker which sounded pretty realistic apart from you could make it rev from your iPhone while standing outside.

Ah right I see - Yeah we don't get the 2nd screen, which would be very useful.
Hopefully it will come eventually as a software update.
Been there all along for me, perhaps it's a setting?

When you indicate, does the blind spot camera show up at the bottom of the screen or near the top?

Blindspot cameras appear exactly as per your photo when reversing.
There is just no screen change on the right like you have.

Nah, I meant when you indicate when driving, is the single blind spot camera at the bottom of the screen or half way up. My first software update in September moved the image from the bottom (where you couldn't see it behind your hand) to half way up.

Now you are testing me
I'm not sure, I will check next time I drive the car and report back on that one

Yep half way up when indicating.
So your car has no parking sensors ?
Do you have any software upgrades ?

No sensors and I've had a few updates. If your car is in wifi range the updates download automatically.

No idea mate.
Just checked again and no option to get the distance display like you have.
Ours is like this ….

That's crap.

Mine changes to the top-down view when I'm stopped in traffic too.

I know - they will cut costs like this and then happily chop prices by £6k to £8k a few weeks later !

Hi Mike,

I've had my M3P for 5 weeks now and it's a 3 years old pre-owned car with 24000 miles with warranty until end of 2028. I use Octopus Intelligent energy provider and it costs me only 7.5 pence per kWh off peak between 11:30pm to 5:30am. Only need to plug it in and forget. The car will do the rest auomatically. I have charged the car only 3 times at home using this 7kW 32A charger. 1st time was to test the newly installed Hypervolt EV charger and other 2 times were used when 2 weeks off from work and needed to top up when visiting other cities on day road trips. I get about 300 to 305 miles range at 90% battery. I have not charged the car more than that. According to car's history, the previous owner charged only once at Tesla's Supercharge throughout the car's life and cost £11. I've spent total only £13 so far that's including 2x trips from Bournemouth to London (return) and then driving around Hampshire, Sommerset, Dorset and my commutes etc nearly 2000 miles so far done and just cost me £13. I can't ask for more than this. It is like travelling for free whereas my 3.6L 911 and 3.4L Boxster S cost me about £20 to £25 a day just to commute to work and home. Tesla is a very smart car with Dog Mode, Sentry Mode that records surrounding areas of the car when you're away, live tracking on app, Track Mode and you can turn it into 100% RWD car and do burn out and load map of a race cuircuit on screen etc also can auto climate control from phone's app before going into the car, defrost mode, etc. The screen is big and great layout for easy user experience to watch Netflix, play video games, YouTube for learning or meeting for work etc Sound system is excellent and whole glass roof is great. I prefer Tesla's big screen to Taycan's or other's which seem much smaller and narrower when viewing. Someone i know has a Taycan and he had to take it to the dealership and leave it there for a day just to get software updated whereas in Tesla it is done over the air when you're sleeping. If you have issue with the car, service can be book via the mobile app and their technicians will come to your work or home and carry out the repair. Even when it is on wet road, you can put foot down it just grips and goes. It is a good car. I'd recommend.

I owned an M3P for 18 months and I never got anywhere close to 300 miles at 90 percent. Maybe 225 to 250 in ideal conditions. In cold likely 1/2 of that. I’m pretty suspicious of anyone suggesting they are getting 300 miles out of an M3P. I don’t believe an M3P gets 300 real world miles on any charge.

Yeah, no way anyone is getting 300 miles at 90% from a M3P unless you were crawling in traffic for all 300 of those miles.

I was thinking this too. They do well for quotes figures but still, I imagine you’d struggle to do that.

Also seems that this is a bit of a spam account, all four of his posts are dubious.

I am sure the consumption of the car will vary based on the speed, how fast and often you accelelerate, and traffic etc. I'm just sharing my experience with it and i get nothing by giving misinformation. Here's the screenshot of my consumption for the last 30 miles i did a few hours ago. If you drive differently or traffic is different then i am sure your car will consume differently just like in any other car. But this is my real life consumption and i charge the car once or twice a week at work and it is free for me.

I don't even know how to access to lifetime consumption. Let me know if you know how to do it. I purchased the car with 24000 miles so a bit irrelevant as everyone drives different journey and differently. Even if it consumes more, I couldn't careless as it has cost me just £12 after driving over 2000 miles in less than 2 months. I can leave a Ferrari 458 Italia or 911 Carrera GTS 992 latest generation in the rear view mirror from dig. Used to spend £110 a week in petrol in 3.4L Boxster S which is now put on SORN as I don't even miss it's mid-engined excellent handling or screaming flat six symphony from Valtronic exhausts.
