Hi

Im hoping somone can help or experienced this previously, i have recently brought an audi a4 avant 170 tdi b7 avant, only in the mornings or if its stood for a long time it takes a while to start it does crank and starts after 4-5 seconds, but once started it runs great and throughout the day it will crank straight away

In the mornings when the car has started it does give a puff of white smoke, has anyone had this problem and resolved the issue?

Please help

Thanks

Could be a number of things, but long cranking periods usually is a fuel pressure problem.

They may be a small leak somewhere which draws air in when the engine is off then allowing fuel to drain back into the fuel tank.

Try clamping off the fuel lines when your not using the car, remember to take them off just before starting, to see if things improve.
