Personally I would look at the VCDS map for a user close to you in order to perform a diagnostic scan. This will / might help point in the direction of the issue, else you need to start a basic process of elimination with the tools you have available. Without a scan tool I would try the following:
- remove mirror glass (YouTube) so you can inspect the connections for any viable damage.
- while exposed you can check the connections on the glass.
- could also test voltages while the mirror is apart.
personally I think it might be an idea to see if the fault “moves” ie remove glass from both sides and swap them over. They won’t fit in the mirror housings but they will connect for testing.
