engines running dry.

was hoping the oil pickup gonna be blocked but its clean.

sump off and theres the dreaded oil pump chain in half and sprocket broke along with a plastic cover

seen a repair kit for 40 quid

56 plate s line 2.0 tfsi 135000 shame really mint inside and out new tyres discs and pads all round cleaner than my 2012 focus underneath

is it worth repairing and get oil pump working and hope for the best

i know people tend to just wanna change an engine

any decent vag online stores ?

yes dont tell anyone but it runs had to for seconds to get it off road before i started the work

seems fine apart from lack of oil cant here any bottom end knockings

For me it would depend on how much I was in it for.

For the sake of £40 I’d have a go at repairing it.

forgot to ask do the 2 oil pump shafts need timing and if so how ?

thought i saw some timing marks

update for anyone interested

oil pump chain and sprocket snapped.
took engine mount out and timing cover off and i can see theres an alloy u shaped bracket which keeps the timing side protected from the oil pump chain side and the chain has pierced it.

as its connected to the block im hoping when i take bracket off its not damaged the block too otherwise its over.

looks like its hit up and away from the block

is there a proper name for this bracket so i know what im looking for buying
