Hi all,

I have a set of bbs ch-r 19x8.5 et48 wheels that I bought for my previous car 2018 S3 sportback. I got them from rimstyle and their website says they should also fit my RS3 2016. Problem is there virtually no clearance on front calipers, I can only get a 12 thou feeler blade in at closest point. How much clearance do I need ? Looking at 3mm or 5mm spacers, is 3mm enough ? This is my first post having been lurking since 2011, all advice appreciated.

Cheers

Ste.

You'll be best with a small spacer and a hub centric one at that.

trouble is most will not have the centering lip, so if you go 3mm make sure you have enough lip to mount the alloy on properly.

Thanks T-1000, so regarding caliper clearance 3mm is enough ? I had my wheels off yesterday and the hub spigot is 12-13mm deep so should leave 9mm ish. The bbs rims are on spigot rings approx 3-4 mm thickness. The spacers I was looking at are forge ones from awesome GTI 3 or 5mm thickness 57.1 mm bore.

Only you can decide that as it depends on how much you can get away with.
5 mm means less hub lip to hang the wheel on.

You could go 8mm as they have their own hub lip on so you wouldn’t lose any.
Depends on what you want really, if it were me I’d want max hub lip and enough spoke/caliper clearance.

I've picked the 3mm spacers plus longer bolts up from awesome, will try them tomorrow, if caliper clearance is adequate I will get another pair for the back wheels. If it still looks too close I'll get 5mm for the front and put the 3mm on the back.

Thanks again T-1000 for your input.

Spacers I bought from awesome have centre bore of 65mm not 57.1mm as stated, they said I could still use them has once bolted up they wouldn't move. Wasn't happy with fitting them, would be impossible to centre them. Refunded no problem, I've ordered two pairs of the ones in the link from T-1000, give them a go !!
