Hi guys, need an oil change soon so rang up Audi dealerships to get a comparison. Hopefully, this helps.

Oil change only unless specified:

West London - £385.96
Slough - £364.36
Reading - £364.36
Basingstoke - £337.68
Glasgow - £299.88
Bury St Edmunds - Oil change - £300.49
Bury St Edmunds - Oil change and inspection - £405.49

My A5 is due an inspection service this month (plus it’s first MOT and brake fluid change)

mall the Audi garages by me are Sytner and amazingly their prices are all the same!

I've bought a service pack for £460ish which is this service and the next one as well. This service on its own was more expensive than the service pack !

Whilst it’s not cheap, it’s only the second service in three years so it does average out to a more reasonable annual cost!

If you get an official and detailed pricing from another garage Audi match the price. You can check this online.

Mine isn't an S5, but as an idea:

Audi quoted me £450 for my second service and inspection, I got a very good independent Audi specialist to do it for £198, using genuine Audi parts and he even updated the Audi online service log.

Hi Buck,

I hope you are well mate. Thank you for your support. Unfortunately, service packs are unavailable for S models. The oil change is overdue now but because of the current situation, it's going to have to wait.

Hi,

I have looked at indy garages but Audi wants any service to be quoted with parts number etc which Indy garages are unwilling to do. Also, if something goes wrong at least I have the backing of Audi. With an indy, I have heard horror stories so taking the safer route.

They only want all that if you want them to price match. Can you blame an indy for not doing it, as they know exactly what you are going to do!
I had an email from Audi UK saying I was fine to use an indy without voiding my warranty...it's on this site somewhere!

But if you are happy to pay double then that's your choice. Read some horror stories on here from people that used Audi from day one.

Steep prices just for an oil change, which is why I did my s5 myself. They’ve added the “reset oil change interval” option to MMI for a reason as far as I’m concerned.

Anyway 8l of oil from Audi parts department at £21 a litre and a new filter can’t remember how much that was, £15 -20 if I remember right.

Then bought a sealey oil extractor for £70 ish.

Sucked it all out through dipstick tube, replaced filter and put new stuff in. All in about £350 and an hours work, plus I’ve got the extraction tool to do my other car as and when so that’s an investment really. There’s a few YouTube videos showing this.

Agree with what you say about expensive for an oil service and it's easy to do, but if it's a 12 month oil/service it will be missing from the Audi service history system, which means if you car is in warranty it may not be covered if anything goes wrong! For me personally I'd only reset the oil life if I was doing a change between Audi/official services.

Depends how good you are at getting them to pay up for warranty work... managed to get a new stronic clutch pack (a wear and tear item according to Audi) on an A1 the Mrs bought used from Audi with 50k on it, took a week of emails and phone calls but they paid the £2000+ bill

In relation to oil changing It’s for them to prove you didn’t change the oil or did it wrong causing whatever issue it is you may have so personally I’ll risk that fight for the sake of a few hundred quid each year. More money for fuel!

A wear and tear item can also use the excuse that it should have lasted longer than it did, thus claiming under your statutory rights.

A few years back a mate of mines son missed his first oil change in his VXR Corsa, 2 months over the due date his engine went bang. It cost him £4,000 for a reconditioned engine from a back street garage, as Vauxhall refused to take any responsibility because he hadn't had it serviced when he should.
