DIS Stalk

Hi guys

Hope someone can help, I fitted this stalk today to replace the one my car came with which had no buttons on the end in the hope of enabling/being able to control the DIS that wasn't enabled on the car

From all the information I found, I had the right cluster with the white text and displays radio stations and stuff on it

But pressing the buttons does nothing, any advice or info? Does it need coding in? Does it need a new Steering ECU?

I have OBD11 i wonder if I can use this, or whether I'll have to find someone/a garage with VCDS I can use

You don't happen to know the coding or a place where I can check for coding like this? I have done my research but haven't come across the correct way to sort this out
