Hi, please could somebody help me. I have a 2006 A3 with the full Bose system from new. I changed the double DIN (cassette) to a single DIN pioneer unit by halfords.

It worked an absolute treat for two months with no problems apart from a minute 'engine interference' you can hear at low volume. This is caused by the amp?

Halfords recommended that they fit a suppressor instead of a ground loom wire. This caused me to have no sound whatsoever so they removed it instantly and blamed a fuse in the engine bay.

So far:
I have had a proffesional check the system wiring at the headunit and he found no faults
No faults with headunit as halfords tryed unit in a staff car
A different pioneer headunit was fitted and still no sound

Audi told me the original needs to be in for them to diagnose.

Is there a simple cure to get sound again?

Thanks

Hi im no professional but iv just spent the last few weeks getting my head round this problem. Thought i had it on lock down before i even purchased an aftermarket hu, then when i installed the head unit the problems began.......
But iv finally got my aftermarket head unit working perfectly now
First of all it depends on what bose system you have? As there is fully amplified systems and half amplified systems? Once i had worked this out i was laughing.

Not being nasty but that's what you get by going to Halfrauds. So many horror stories out there yet people insist on going because their advertised prices are so cheap.

Have you got the correct audi to ISO wiring loom for your car? And when you say a professional has checked the wiring, what do you mean?

Hi, yes I was very weary of going through hellfrauds. I am based in Norwich and the professional I am referring to is 25 miles. I am really limited for choice due to no specialists.

Yes they ordered all the correct leads from Connect.

They have since swapped the units and there is sound but rears do not work. The most ghastly interference noise from engine forces me not to switch it on! I think I am going to revert to my cassette unit.

Bose is fully amplified, not half amped.

My initial thoughts were that they had ******** the amp, but that can’t be as you have sound from the front.

When you say swapped do you mean back to oem?

If not I would strip it back to stock and take it from there.

The reason they didn’t do a ground loop wire is because it’s more work than a suppressor, but it the only way to truly isolate as it closes the loop.
