MISSING!!!

hey guys the other day i was driving my car i turned into my drive and then boooom my s3 started missing really badly give it a lil rev massive knocking noise!
so i booted it down the road it just held back a lil then i was offfffff!!

i plugged in my diagnostic machine and nothin conclusive came up!?!

i rang up my mate at audi and he said "pull off the air flow meter and see if the problem comes back" i said its pritty random prob but he was sure it was that
he said it should go like the clappers now but ull be drinking petrol!

it only happens now and then? really smelly out the exhaust to?

help please

Long shot but make sure the lead it clipped to the hose near the just above and to the right of the washer bottle, on mine it was hanging down and rubbing on one of the pulleys, when I went round a left bend it starting holding back and missing, new wire, right place, all ok now!
