Cam Ctrl. OFF System Not OK

Hello All,

I have the following error;

17748 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28): Incor. Correlation
P1340 - 35-00 - -

I have so far;

- Changed cam sensor (being hopeful for a quick fix)
- Changed crank sensor (being hopeful for a quick fix)
- Changed oil pump
- Changed oil pump pick-up pipe
- Checked oil pressure before and after new oil pump & pick-up pipe (slight improvement in oil pressure, with in spec.)
- Double checked timing
- Did the VAG-COM test on the solenoid and could hear it click.

I now have the cam cover off and have counted the links between the cam sprockets (16 as per the Ross-Tech Wiki http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.ph ... 340/004928).

I did try pushing the tensioner down and eventually it went down a little to take the slack off the chain, it did seem stuck until I gave it a big push and it moves relatively freely now, can the tensioners get stuck in the extended position?

Also I did the VAG-COM Cam control test after the new oil pump etc with the same result as before the new oil pump etc “system Not OK”.

Anybody know how to test the tensioner now I have the Cam Cover off?

It's an Ebay cheap tensioner, anybody have any experience with these, I would expect it to last more than 500 miles!
